Former Director of the Sir Henry Wellcome Functional Genomics Facility at the University of Glasgow, Andrew joined Aston in January 2011. His previous post headed a state of the art facility for the generation of data for systems biology, from high throughput gene sequencing and transcriptomics to proteomics and metabolomics. Andrew's research involved the development of new technologies and methodologies for the generation of in depth genomic, proteomic and metabolomic data, with a specific focus on generating detailed functional analysis and spatial and temporal data for systems biology, as well as working with small samples and clinical materials for systems medicine. Coupling increased depth of analysis with higher throughput methods, and integrating data seamlessly across different data types provided a fundamental platform for systems analysis.
