Basil Sawczuk

Basil qualified as an architect. He very soon found the buzz of winning new clients more exciting and rewarding than designing and running projects. After a string of successful wins his colleagues encouraged him to become a full time job winner, or business development as it is now called.

At the multi professional firm of DGI International he secured projects for many UK blue chip clients and then went on to pursue an international role winning overseas work for some large global clients.

When WS Atkins acquired DGI International Basil became the Midland Marketing Director, and was soon promoted to the national role for the Property Design Division and then as Marketing Director for WS Atkins Property Services. This incorporated three divisions selling and marketing architects, civil, structural and building services engineers, quantity surveyors and facilities management operating out of more than fifty UK offices.

Basil Sawczuk has also been a Marketing Director, and on the management board, of a regional law firm, and Marketing, Business Development and Bid Director for a major contractor focusing mainly on outsourced public sector work.

He is the author of “Marketing & Selling Professional Services in Architecture and Construction” and “Risk Avoidance for the Building Team”

Basil now runs his own consultancy, Potentialise, helping large and small firms develop a strategy to win profitable work. His clients include FTSE350 firms and smaller niche enterprises
