Chris Backhouse
Chris is Managing Director - Regions at FD Solutions, and works closely with clients to help them develop, grow and strengthen their businesses. This has included financial planning, finance raising and helping to build value into businesses and also to realise it, by way of a trade sale or flotation.
Chris has experience of corporate finance, including smaller business acquisitions and disposals, strategic and business planning, VC-backed transactions and AIM/Plus market flotations, and experience of doing business in Asia, Eastern Europe and the Americas.
While at FD Solutions, recent roles and projects have included:
- Assisting investors with the acquisition and control of a German quoted mining company.
- Acting as CFO of a technology manufacturing business, assisting in development of its financial reporting and strategic business plan and acquisition of subsidiaries in the USA and Thailand.
- Leading a team to review the accounts of a VC-backed technology group, implementing cashflow forecasting, preparing projections and negotiating new covenants with their bank; finally, assisting with the negotiations leading to the sale of the business.
Chris trained with KPMG and subsequently worked at Baker Tilly and Ernst & Young, providing advice to fast-growing entrepreneurial clients from a variety of industries, ranging in size from start-ups to subsidiaries of large overseas operations.
Prior to joining FD Solutions, Chris held FD appointments with:
- a listed aerospace and defence products group.
- a packaging division of Courtaulds with responsibility for China, Poland, Russia, India, Brazil and the USA.
Chris is also responsible for overseeing expansion of the FD Solutions team outside of London.
