David Reynolds
David is Social Media Manager for the Research Councils UK’s New Economic Models in the Digital Economy (NEMODE) Network Plus. The project aims to inform policy on issues pertaining to the digital economy and engage with SMEs to stimulate new ideas and the creation of new markets. NEMODE will also inform business sectors and large companies about the changes necessary to enable them to take advantage of the opportunities created by today’s technologies.
He is also a PhD Student at Warwick Manufacturing Group, working as part of the Service Systems Research Group. The SSG works in collaboration with organisations large and small researching into value constellations, new business models and value-creating service systems of people, product, service and technology. David's research interests include: digital innovation, value constellations, entrepreneurship, business strategy, new market creation, service systems science, and the role of data in creating new business models.
David's interest in digital innovation began during his time studying Computer Science at the University of Warwick and continued through his MSc in e-Business Management at the University of East Anglia. After graduating, David applied his knowledge and passion to what, at first glance, appears to be one of the least likely areas for digital innovation: floristry. Within a year, he and his business partner had turned a failing village florist into an award winning florist/sandwich bar/B&B. David attributes their success to a combination of understanding the needs of their customers and the innovative use of digital technologies, leading to a superior service.
Before returning to his studies in October 2012, David spent a number of years lecturing in Marketing and e-Business Management at the Norwich Business School, UEA and working as freelance research consultant specialising in business strategy and e-learning tools.
