Peter Lambert

Peter is Professor of Microbial Chemistry in the School of Life and Health Sciences at Aston University in Birmingham. Following a period in the Pharmaceutical Industry at Glaxo Group Research working on the discovery of novel antibiotics, he moved to Aston University in Birmingham to pursue his research and teaching career in the same areas.

He has worked on the discovery, mechanisms of action and resistance of antibiotics and biocides. His other areas of interest include the mechanisms of bacterial pathogenicity, the use of serological markers for the diagnosis of infection and the use of molecular typing in studying the epidemiology of healthcare-associated infections.
