Thomas Lipinski

Tom is a leader of sustainable design practice and a CleanTech start-up, a dedicated inventor, and a believer in practical and commercially sustainable approaches to tackling environmental issues.

Tom is the Founder, MD and CTO of Green Structures, a UK sustainable design and CleanTech company. He was previously a Partner in Sustainable Design and Construction Practice at Tentigo Design, and worked as an Architectural Technician and Site Architect in Koszalin, Poland.

His achievements include winning the Energy Efficient Whitehall competition organised by Technology Strategy Board (2010), Autodesk CleanTech partner status (2010), multiple projects in Retrofit for the Future competition run by Technology Strategy Board in 2010, project promotion to Open House London status (2009) and two Technology Inspired Feasibility Studies as well as making the final of Collaboration Nation presentation (2009).

Tom's awards include: Environment & Energy Awards 2011 shortlist; Innovation Future Zone at Ecobuild 2011 high commendation, Best Retrofit Innovation - Winner, Retrofit Awards 2010; Best new Energy Efficient product at Ecobuild 2010, Green Hero, Green Apple Awards 2009; Best Eco Project - Runner up, FX Design Awards 2009; Environmental Best Practice - Winner, 2009; Green Apple Awards, Best Sustainable Building - Winner, City of London (2009); Best Carbon Reduction Project - Winner, EDIE Awards (2008), and 99% Campaign for Refurbishment - Runner up, 2008 Building Magazine Awards (2008).

Tom is a participant in the UKGBC Rapid Response Task Group providing advice on Built Environment matters, the Pay as you Save policy advisory Group (UKGBC), an English Heritage HELM (Historic Environment, Local Management) group on Retrofitting Historic Buildings,a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) ambassador, and a member of FLASH network assisting in knowledge dissemination of Energy Efficient construction.

His degrees include an MSc Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies, UEL (2010), BSc Economic and Social Policy, Birkbeck, University of London (2008), and Cert. International Trade Management, Institute of Export (2004).
