Alan Bhimani
Alan is an Associate at Marks & Clerk, and has experience in preparing, filing and prosecuting patent applications, primarily relating to mechanical engineering ranging from medical devices to power plants, in the UK and internationally. He also advises on contentious matters relating to patents, registered and unregistered design rights and copyright.
Having graduated in Engineering from Loughborough University, Alan worked in various design and manufacturing engineering roles within IMI Plc where, as a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, he qualified as a Chartered Engineer. He then went on to specialise in Patents and become the Intellectual Property Manager of the IMI’s internal R&D group serving the various platform businesses where he was heavily involved in the development of several medical device technologies.
In 2008 Alan qualified both as a Chartered Patent Attorney and as a European Patent Attorney. Prior to leaving IMI, Alan was heavily involved in preparing patent due diligence reports for external investors as part of a medical technology MBO.
